Ransomware may not make the headlines in the same way it did a few years ago, but it’s still a significant threat to all your most important files, so it’s vital to keep your system protected.
In addition to its blockbuster Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, Bitdefender used to offer a free standalone anti-ransomware tool, but it was quite limited, and was recently discontinued by the company. In a statement, Bitdefender noted: “Given the fact that ransomware updates at an incredible speed with an obvious intent to circumvent detection and vaccines, Bitdefender decided that this Ransomware Vaccine did not offer a high enough level of protection to users and retired it. The only proven defenses against ransomware are multi-layered security solutions such as Bitdefender Total Security.”
